HumanTone (Chinese name: 人话改稿, "the Extension") is a Chrome extension that helps you rewrite selected Chinese text with an AI model you choose and pay for yourself (bring-your-own-key, "BYOK"). This policy explains exactly what data the Extension handles and where it goes. The short version: the developer operates no servers and receives none of your data; the only transfer is the one you direct, from your browser to the AI provider you configured.

1. No developer servers, no tracking, no data received by the developer

The developer operates no backend servers for this Extension and does not receive your API key, your selected text, or your rewrite history.
The developer itself does not collect, receive, sell, rent, or share any personal information, browsing history, or usage data, and never stores or transmits any data to a developer-operated server.
The Extension contains no analytics, no advertising SDKs, no tracking, and no telemetry of any kind.
The Extension includes no remotely hosted code; everything it runs is packaged inside the extension itself.
All settings and history are stored solely on your local device, and selected text is transmitted only from your browser directly to the AI endpoint you configure (see Section 3).

2. Your API key is stored locally

To rewrite text, you enter your own API key for a third-party AI provider in the Extension's settings page.
Your key and settings are stored only in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) on your own device. They are never sent to the developer or to any server other than the provider endpoint you configured, where the key is used solely as the authorization credential for your own requests. The key is never placed in a URL, a log, or page content.
You can overwrite your key in Settings at any time. Uninstalling the Extension deletes its local storage, which removes the key, all settings, and the local history from your browser's extension storage.

3. The text you select goes only to the provider you choose

When — and only when — you select text and invoke the Extension (via the right-click menu or the toolbar button), the Extension reads only your current selection. It does not read the rest of the page, does not monitor your typing, and does not run persistently in page content.
The text is transmitted only when you then click "Rewrite" in the panel. It is sent directly from your browser to the AI provider endpoint you configured in settings (for example, a provider you picked from the built-in presets, or any compatible endpoint you entered yourself), together with the rewriting instructions for the mode you selected and the model name. This transfer is necessary to perform the rewrite you requested.
The developer never receives, relays, stores, or logs this text. It does not pass through any server of ours — we have none.
The provider you choose may itself route requests to upstream model providers, and may record, retain, or use submitted text and request metadata under its own privacy policy and terms. The developer cannot control the provider's data practices. Please review the policy of the provider you choose before sending it text, and do not submit content you are not comfortable sending to that provider (for example, trade secrets or sensitive personal information).

4. Local history stays on your device

The Extension keeps a local history of your most recent 50 rewrites (original text, rewritten result, mode, and timestamp) so you can revisit and compare them. It is stored only in your browser's local storage (chrome.storage.local) and is never transmitted anywhere.
History entries are automatically replaced as new ones are added beyond 50. Uninstalling the Extension removes all stored history, together with your settings and API key.

5. On-device text scan

The Extension includes a built-in set of writing-pattern rules that flags stiff, templated phrasing in your text and suggests more natural alternatives. This scan runs entirely on your device and makes no network requests.

6. Permissions and what they are used for

Permission	Purpose
`contextMenus`	Adds the "改稿" (Rewrite) entries to the right-click menu when text is selected.
`storage`	Saves your settings and API key (`chrome.storage.local`) and your local rewrite history on your device only.
`sidePanel`	Displays the rewrite panel where you review the side-by-side comparison and fidelity check before applying changes.
`activeTab`	Lets the Extension access the tab you are actively using, only after you invoke it, so it can read your current selection and — at your request — put the rewritten text back where the original was.
`scripting`	Injects a small helper script on demand (only when you invoke a rewrite or a replace) to read the current selection and perform the in-place replacement you requested. No persistent content script runs on pages.
Optional host permission (`https:///`, not granted by default)	Declared as optional only. The Extension requests access to one specific domain at a time — the API endpoint domain you entered in settings — and only so it can send your rewrite requests to that provider. It never requests access to all sites, and no host access is active until you approve it for the specific domain shown in the browser prompt. Domains you have approved remain authorized until you revoke them in Chrome's extension site-permission settings.

7. Data use commitments

We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties, except for the transfer you direct to the AI provider you configured, which is required for the Extension's single purpose.
We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the Extension's single purpose (rewriting text you select).
We do not use or transfer user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.
Our use of information obtained through Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

8. Children

The Extension is a general writing tool and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction).

9. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes to data practices would also be reflected in the Extension's store listing disclosure.

「人话改稿」（英文名 HumanTone，下称"本插件"）是一款 Chrome 插件，用你自己选择、自己付费的 AI 模型接口（自带 Key，即 BYOK）帮你改写选中的中文文本。本政策如实说明本插件处理哪些数据、数据去向何处。一句话版本：开发者没有任何服务器，也不接收你的任何数据；唯一的传输是你亲自发起的、从你的浏览器发往你所配置的 AI 服务商的那一次。

1. 无开发者服务器、无追踪、开发者不接收任何数据

开发者没有为本插件运营任何后端服务器，也不接收你的 API Key、选中文本或改稿历史。
开发者自身不收集、不接收、不出售、不出租、不分享任何个人信息、浏览记录或使用数据，也从不向任何开发者运营的服务器存储或传输数据。
本插件不含任何统计、广告、追踪或遥测代码。
本插件不包含任何远程托管代码，运行的全部代码都打包在插件自身之内。
全部设置与历史仅保存在你的设备本地；选中文本仅按你的指令、从你的浏览器直接发往你自行配置的 AI 接口（见第 3 节）。

2. API Key 只保存在你的设备本地

改稿需要你在设置页填入你自己的第三方 AI 服务商 API Key。
Key 与设置只保存在你本人浏览器本地（chrome.storage.local）。它们不会被发给开发者，也不会被发往你所配置的服务商接口之外的任何服务器；在接口请求中，Key 仅作为你本人请求的授权凭证使用。Key 不会出现在网址、日志或页面内容中。
你随时可以在设置页覆盖更换 Key。卸载本插件即会删除其本地存储，Key、全部设置与本地历史将从浏览器的扩展存储中一并移除。

3. 你选中的文本只发往你自己选的服务商

仅当你选中文本并主动触发本插件（右键菜单或工具栏按钮）时，本插件才读取你当前的选区。它不读取页面其余内容，不监听你的输入，也不在网页中常驻运行。
仅当你随后在面板中点击"开始改稿"时，文本才会被发送：从你的浏览器直接发送到你在设置中配置的 AI 服务商接口（例如内置预设中你选定的服务商，或你自行填入的任意兼容接口），同时发送的还有你所选改稿模式对应的改写指令与模型名称。这次传输是你所要求的改稿功能所必需的。
开发者从不接收、中转、存储或记录这些文本。文本不经过我们的任何服务器——我们没有服务器。
你所选的服务商自身可能将请求转发给上游模型提供商，也可能按其自身的隐私政策与条款记录、留存或使用你提交的文本及请求元数据。开发者无法控制该服务商的数据处理方式。在向其发送文本前，请先查阅你所选服务商的隐私政策；请勿提交你不希望发送给该服务商的内容（例如商业机密或敏感个人信息）。

4. 本地历史只存在你的设备上

本插件在本机保留你最近 50 条改稿历史（原文、改稿、所用模式与时间），方便你回看与对照。历史只保存在你浏览器本地（chrome.storage.local），从不向任何地方传输。
超过 50 条后，旧记录会被新记录自动顶替。卸载本插件即会删除全部历史，以及设置与 API Key。

5. 本地文本扫描

本插件内置一组写作模式规则，可在你的文本中提示生硬、模板化的表达并给出更自然的改法建议。该扫描完全在你的设备本地运行，不发出任何网络请求。

6. 权限用途逐项说明

`contextMenus`	在你选中文本时，向右键菜单添加"改稿"入口。
`storage`	仅在你的设备上保存设置、API Key（`chrome.storage.local`）与本地改稿历史。
`sidePanel`	显示改稿侧边栏，供你在应用改动前查看改动对照与保真检查。
`activeTab`	仅在你主动触发时访问你正在使用的标签页，以读取当前选区，并在你要求时把改稿替换回原文位置。
`scripting`	仅在你触发改稿或替换时按需注入一个小辅助脚本，用于读取当前选区与执行你要求的原位替换；不在网页中常驻任何内容脚本。
可选站点权限（`https:///`，默认不授予）	仅作可选声明。本插件只会一次申请一个具体域名——即你在设置中填入的接口域名——且仅用于把改稿请求发往该服务商。它从不申请全部网站的访问权；在你于浏览器弹窗中批准某个具体域名之前，不存在任何已生效的站点访问权限。你批准过的接口域名授权会保留，你可随时在 Chrome 的扩展程序站点权限设置中撤销。

7. 数据使用承诺

我们不出售、也不向第三方转让用户数据；唯一的例外是你亲自指定的、为实现本插件单一用途所必需的向你所配置的 AI 服务商的传输。
我们不将用户数据用于与本插件单一用途（改写你选中的文本）无关的目的，也不为此类目的转让数据。
我们不将用户数据用于信用评估或借贷目的，也不为此类目的转让数据。
本插件对通过 Chrome API 获取的信息的使用遵守 Chrome Web Store 用户数据政策，包括 Limited Use（有限使用）要求。

8. 儿童

本插件是通用写作工具，不面向 13 岁以下儿童（或你所在司法辖区的最低年龄）。

9. 政策变更

如本政策变更，更新版本将发布于本页面并标注新的"最后更新"日期。数据处理方式如有实质变化，也会同步反映在本插件的商店页披露中。
